Gmail’s main shortcoming has always always been their lack of native support for HTML signatures. Fortunately, there is an easy workaround.
Spam crawlers are, by their very nature, cheap and relatively inefficient – there are enough people out there leaving their email addresses totally unprotected on their website to harvest that the developers need not bother with anything more complex. Fortunately that makes it very easy to fool them.
