Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure there is a legitimate and useful reason for Google Cache but when you have a gaggle of brain-dead idiots trying to circumnavigate their blocked status by using Google’s (out of date) cache and then making threats based on these, the shine is soon taken off what is otherwise an inoffensive and occasionally useful section of Google’s services.
Of course, there is an easy way around this in the form of a one-line piece of metadata:
Chuck this in the head section of your header.php file (in wp-content/themes/your-theme in the case of WordPress blogs), save and upload, and that’s it! It does not have any detrimental impact on your search engine rankings, but you will have to wait for the pages Google has already cached to fall back off their servers. If you’re changing your content often enough and seeing regular visits from the Google spiders then this shouldn’t take too long.
