Google Images is a veyr valuable source of website traffic, but how do you stop people just coming to the site, stealing your images, and leaving again?
File-size and bandwidth obsessions are not bad qualities to find in a webmaster: bandwidth costs you money, and the longer it takes for someone to download all the bits and pieces that make up your site, the more likely it is that your visitor will give up.
Spam crawlers are, by their very nature, cheap and relatively inefficient – there are enough people out there leaving their email addresses totally unprotected on their website to harvest that the developers need not bother with anything more complex. Fortunately that makes it very easy to fool them.
